Resolve to declutter your mind | Get those outstanding electrical jobs done

How many of you have kept those New Year’s Resolutions that most of us made only five or six weeks ago? For many people, resolutions can be something along the lines of “lose weight” or “eat better” – resolutions that aim to help our bodies. But for me, many resolutions are based on helping my mind! Often, I get a cluttered feeling when I know I have a lot of nagging jobs to do. Putting my mind to getting those outstanding electrical jobs done often helps my mind feel clearer and myself feel better.

Now that the long month of January has passed, clear your mind of clutter by getting those outstanding electrical jobs done. A Bathe Electrics cannot help you improve your daily step count, but we can help you get those nagging jobs ticked off the list. Here is how I would approach the problem.

1.      Have a walkaround

There is nothing worse than finally paying your electrician’s invoice, only to realise you have missed that vital broken ceiling light fixture! Walk around each room in your house with a notebook writing down all the electrical problems that you can see and remember. It might be as simple as “socket cracked” or as abstract as “kitchen electrics keep switching off”. You can even list things that you would like to improve, such as “change ceiling light”.

2.      Prioritise

Once you have written your list, prioritise it. Which jobs impact your daily life the most? Which ones are jobs that you would love to get done but that are not a priority at the moment? Write a number next to each job.

3.      Set your budget

When you contact your electrician, your list will help them prioritise the work. You can tell them how much you want to spend, and they will do the jobs that are within your budget.

4.      Prepare

Make sure you talk to your electrician about how best to prepare for the work that needs to be done. It might be that he will require you to pull a carpet back or remove certain objects from a room. Block book time in your calendar to properly prepare for the work to take place. It will help you not become unduly harassed leading up to the date the work is to take place. It will also save you money, as having your electrician move items will cost more.

If you just don’t know where to start with your electrics just give A Bathe Electrics a call, we will be more than happy to advise and help you plan a way to move forward. De-clutter your mind ready for a fresh start this coming Spring!
