Can I just move an electrical accessory myself as a homeowner?
While it’s technically possible for a homeowner to move an electrical accessory, it requires correct tools, testing equipment, and knowledge of the latest IET 18th Edition wiring regulations and building regulations. Certification and notification to local building control might also be necessary. Due to these complexities, many homeowners prefer hiring a qualified electrician.
Can you move the electrical accessory and keep the original fitting or switch?
Yes, the original fitting or switch can be reused if it’s in good condition and meets British Standards. However, be aware that warranties provided by the electrician, such as those from A Bathe Electrics, may only cover workmanship for 24 months and parts or accessories they supply for 12 months.
What are the key considerations and potential challenges when relocating an electrical accessory?
Relocating an electrical accessory involves careful consideration of building and wiring regulations. Challenges include ensuring that the new location complies, avoiding disruptions to existing circuits, and maintaining the integrity of the property’s electrical system. There’s also the need to consider the physical constraints of the building and the potential for hidden infrastructure like pipes or existing wiring. A Bathe Electrics has the experience in these aspects, ensuring safe and compliant relocation of electrical accessories.
